Headliner
Hey guys I've got a 1997 XLT with messed up headliner. Any thoughts on how it should be done? I'm trying to decide between buying a whole new headliner or just buying fabric and recovering it.
It's easy money.
Take it out pull off the fabric, clean it up, pick your fabric, use 3M Upholstery spray glue and get it done. Plenty of videos on Youtube. I did custom door, sail and headliner on a bagged 58 Bug when I was 20 years old and it still looks good. (*cough, many years later) ..the cars trashed by the current owner but the headliner's still there.
If you go with an Upholstery shop, you'll save 3/4 of the cost by taking them in the headliner only and dropping it off. That way they don't have to take it out, install it or have a big truck in the way in the shop. For them it's Free money. For you it's almost free.

I replaced mine last week. I had a donor truck that I took the headliner out of. The one in the truck I'm driving had a big tear above the passenger side door. After I pulled it out, that tear was probably from the mouse or mice that made a nice nest in there. I'm glad these trucks have great heaters so the mice stay nice and toasty!
Anyhow, I would check with a junkyard to pick up a cheap one. Then there's always craigslist too. I see late model f150's for parts all the time in my area, and I would think a headliner wouldn't be a most wanted part.
