To be honest, I do remember people mentioning this problem before, so im sure a few people on this site know how to deal with it. I dont have auto lights, so i wouldnt know personally. I will do a little bit of homework on it though and see what i come up with.

Question: do they stay on only if it is on auto, or if it is auto or switched off?

When they are on auto after I shut my truck off they stay on and I can turn em off by clicking it over 1 notch or on by clicking it over again

Went looking a bit, and I did find this. Similar issue, but he didnt have auto lights. One guy did say this if he did have auto lights:

"I was going to suggest autolamps but you indicated you dont have that feature. I have had a couple where the autolamp module malfunctioned and you simply pull the oval panel on the passenger side top of dash and unplug it to verify."

As i said earlier, it was a similar issue. Truck was off and parked, plus the light switch was off. The lights still stayed on regardless, so im guessing He had a similar issue with the auto lights. Its something to give a shot, but I'll keep looking.
