2002 ford f150 King ranch 4x4 when I crank my truck headlights come on but the switch is in off position. When you turn truck off they go off after 10 sec what could be wrong ???

 

Does your truck have auto lamps? I am thinking the King Ranch's had auto lamps, and I think the Canadian trucks also had DRL.

 

It has switch to have lights come on when dark it acting like I have it turned to that position it does it during the day to when it comes on you can turn switch on an off an does nothing but if you wait bout 10 sec they go off an you here it click

 

A bad auto switch module can cause this. It's up on the passenger side of the dash. Just pop the log oval piece off. I'd try adjusting it first, but it sounds shot.

Theres auto lamps and the vehicle security that plays role.
The vehicle security is whats turning it off after 15 sec after turning off vehicle.

A failure in the autolamps circuit is keeping it on

This includes switch, gem, relays, autolamp module


For years mine has a problem where i cant turn off once on at night until stop vehicle.
In looking at schematic there is no way this should be possible with switch off. Its not a relay or the auto lamp module or switch.
There has to be power getting somewhere it not supposed to, somehow to stay on.

I finally gave up....its a minor aggravation.

 

I unplugged both senors on top of dash an it stop it. But is one of those the security senors ? If so which one is it ? An will it drain my battery while it unplugged?
