Smile Headlight switch???

On my truck my headlight switch has the automatic setting then the regular on off positions. During daylight hours every thing works fine but at night all my lights come on automatically even when the switch is in the off position? I'm confused???

I think in my dads chevy anyways, you have to turn the set up is, of...on...fog...auto...
to turn it off there, its like a key, there should be some slack after auto you can turn it to the right past it to turn off auto, then bring it to one of the other switch setting is how Ive seen it done.

There's circuitry in that module that is prone to "freezing". Mine was frozen to the OFF position, which took out my dash lights, but kept the headlights on. You might want to disconnect the module, and try it again....or it's time for a new/donor one. I've been through 2 of these over the past 14 years.

In the switch it self? It was fine then it wasn't.

The switch assembly. Pop out the switch **** with a screwdriver (gently) from the bottom, and put the **** back in upside down. This will allow you to turn the ****, and it will release the module from the dash. Check the wiring and clean the connectors. Otherwise, it could be the whole module itself (about $50-65 used).

BTW, turn that dimmer wheel off from it's max (or "clicked") setting. Just moving that wheel may address the problem (oxidized contact?).
