What's the best setup for headers and exhaust on a 5.4? Short or long tube headers and what type of exhaust. I'd like to run straights but need to run a legal muffler for silver lake.

For your muffeler problem you could do what i did. I have a flowmaster 40 series turndown, and a peice of side exit straight pipe, both with 3 bolt exhaust flanges welded to them, and places on the frame to secure them. There is also a flange welded on to the end of the exhaust system where it is cut, so i can switch between flowmaster 40 turndowns and a straight pipe in 5 mins with three bolts. Ofcourse there is a gasket where it bolts up. Its nice becuase i like to run straights in town but i prefer the quieter flowmaster for long trips.
