Not trying to steal your thread , so if you already have leaking manifolds like I have would you say go ahead and go longtubes since I have to do them anyway

If your against finding some manifolds @ a junkyard, and its worth the money purchasing and installing(!) LT's over shorties than yeah might as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it broken studs that cause the leaks not the manifolds. So replacing the studs while keeping the manifolds should fix the issue?

Studs are ALOT cheaper than shorties and LTs.

Then I would just fix those. Theres a decent amount more money involved in a LT install than just the expense of the LT's unless you can weld, and have an engine hoist. Atleast based on my experience with headers on other vehicles. I have not installed them in this truck.

Dont need a engine hoist. just long pipe.. Drivers side is easy.. Passenger side is a bitch if doing long tubes.

I have found passenger side is easier, drivers side has all the abs lines in the way.

+1. Soak them in some pb blaster before removal. Be prepared for some broken studs

If you can't find PB Blaster, I'm a big fan of Kroil.
