I am planning on doing a 302 swap into my 1998 F150 5speed 4x4. I have an endless amount of electrical problems with my truck and just want to eliminate the EFI. Has anyone done that? any suggestions? pictures? problems? please let me know!!

Why not just get a carb conversion kit and keep your motor? It would solve your problems, look cool and be alot cheaper and easier!!

Do you have a 4.6 or 5.4?

THEY MAKE THOSE?!?!?!?!?!?!?! i have a 4.6l but the 4.6 and 5.4 have the same intake and exhaust port size...the gaskets are the same for both engines.

I like the EFI delete...but I'd go with MFI instead of carbs. Here's another option if you feel like getting into a bit more work...

I love the 4bt cummins...i cant afford one of those though. ive sunk all my dang money into this f150. lol. someone told me it might be as simple as replacing my ignition. but if that doesnt work idk what im gonna do with the truck. i sunk $5k into my new engine...lol. and heavy duty clutch and $900 in my new rear end. i might be swaping them over to my 1997 F150...

I understand you need different motor mounts, electrical, and transmission mountings and it is a pain. I would go with a Cummins diesel and get a REAL engine for your truck, and quit playing with the gutless automobile gas wonders.

I like the idea....but its more of a budget thing...and the 302 will need new engine mounts. it will bolt right to the trans of a 4.2l v6. i would really like to go MFI. but idk if i can swing it...
