Buzzing vacuum line in engine bay
Forgive me if this is a highly covered subject but I have a 2001 with a 5.4 engine. I am getting a buzzing noise from the engine. When I stopped and opened the hood it appears to be coming from a line that connects to the intake on the top of the engine. The line then leads back to the firewall and connects to something that kinda looks like a fuel filter. It has a line coming out the other side of it.
What is this part and why is it buzzing? Seems like it is a valve of some type and it is not working correctly.
Thanks

Rest your hand upon the EVR solenoid while it's making the noise. It will be vibrating, thus your noise origination.
It's normal, they all can play a tune some time or other. No worries, it's bleeding off residual vac pressure after shut down. There's a little filter which can get a little dirty under the cap. They still work when the get somewhat plugged, but you can service them if you want.
The EVR supply and feed lines are usually white then green to the EGR. Some 4sixes use a black line vs the white.

That's exactly right
If it's doing that while it's idling. For some reason, I thought he meant after the engine is shut down.

Ditto on the PCV valve. Mine was doing the same thing. I thought it may have been a bearing in the alternator or serpentine belt tensioner pulley. Pull the pcv out of the rocker box cover and stick your thumb over the end. If it stops, you've found your buzz! (Haven't said that in awhile. )
