Right, probably not a bad idea. Well they pin it right to the passenger wheel well straight up. Water goes up and come down right over it through the car wash. Washing the engine compartment, well many do but you shouldn't lol. That can do more damage than good. Repercussions are booth long term and short term. Didn't use to be that way and I know, people will swear washing doesn't hurt. It can be done alright IF you take common sense precautions. Keeping the wheel well extensions in place with these trucks is a chore, but mostly they fall off. That can be fixed if you take the time and fastenn them better than Ford does. Do that and the engine compartment will stay clean. Haven't washed mine since I purchased the truck new. It'll get dusty onec in awhile, but a shop vac and a horse hair brush takes care of that.

What are the wheel well extensions?

I washed my engine three times. I didn't realize they put a hose pointing straight up as the breather. That's freaking retarded. Who does that? They don't even put a breather cap on it?

I know, it's right under the battery box , straight down. I've seen them tied to the vacuum lines as well on the 4X4's. It's like that even in the service manuals lol.

Yea BTW, - that's what you have to do , install a cap/breather. Mine had breather plug for the rear axle factory, but I haven't seen them for the front on these trucks.
