Going Supercharged?
Hey guys, thinking about supercharging my 02 5.4. I found one from a Lightning but wondering what all else i'll need since it is just the super charger. i know i'll need injectors, plugs and a tune but what about Intake mani? and other items? Thanks!!
I have an extra engine that I'm rebuilding but some one said if I stay around 6-8psi, I wont need forgedparts. But was thinking bout just finding Lightning or Harley parts and putting those in. Given the block is the same. A buddy of mine has a engine out of a Lightning that was totalled that I'm trying to get him to sell me

Same crank, rods and pistions.
If the engine you have doesn't have a different rotating assembly, then you don't have a lighting engine.
"The 5.4L Triton V-8 was already an extremely potent engine, but SVT engineers wanted to take it to the next level. Since the Triton engine block featured a "deep skirt" design giving it great rigidity, it was decided to boost performance with a supercharger. SVT engineers added a forged steel crankshaft, sinter-forged alloy connecting rods, and forged pistons, lowering the compression ratio to 8.4:1 for the addition of the supercharger. The supercharger is a Roots-type Eaton Corporation Generation IV model that sits atop the intake system. Located directly under the supercharger is a water-to-air intercooler to cool the compressed air as it enters the intake."

Send the eaton to Steigmeier for a port job and a snake bite kit, port match the heads and call it a day. With a good tune, headers, mild port job on the Eaton and the heads you'll have enough power to find all the little weak points in your driveline...
