Default GEM Swap Question

Ok....this might be a stupid question but....is it remotely possible to swap a GEM out of a '97 XL into a '98 XLT that has stuff the '97 doesn't have re: power windows, Power locks etc.? I know the GEM in the '98 is acting weird and the one in the '97 is perfectly fine. If anyone has insight, please share ! Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that it won't work, not to mention the fact that a dealer will have to program the new gem so the truck will run.

Have you considered going to a junk yard and looking for a 98xlt? Did the one you have get wet? I don't believe the one from the 97 will work, but hopefully someone else will chime in.

I have replaced my GEM 3 times now. The first time I replaced I found one with the same exact programming number and it still had to be programmed to get certain things to function correctly. You will need to take out the one in you truck and find one with match numbers then have to have it programmed by the dealer. Also the truck it self will run but will not shift right and certain interior items will not function correctly till it has been programmed.
