Default Gears?

Just got a 2003 fx4. Going to do 5” lift with 35” tires but not sure what gears I should put in it. Going to be used for around town driving and a little off road when I go hunting. Any suggestions would be great.

4.10 at a minimum. 4.56 if you're ambitious.
If it has 3.73 now, don' waste your money on 4.10, go right to 4.56 so you can feel the difference you paid for. If it has 3.55 now, you may notice a bit of difference, however it will resemble a stock setup, except a bet less due to the required power loss that has to be made up.
The low gearing will be very helpful every time the traffic light turns green. Especially if you live in a hilly area.

If you have the weaker 4.6 motor, best go for the 4.56.
Notice I did a lot of guessing because you forgot to tell us most things relevant about your truck.

I have 32's with 3.55 gears, and would like to go to 4.10's. (This would be like stock tires and 3.73's.) If I had 35's, I'd go straight to 4.56 gears without hesitation.

3.73 is right for a 31" tire that wants to tow something.
That's that's what mine came with 3.73 and lt265.

4.1 is the actual correct for a 33-34

4.56.... is a no-brainer for 35. Don't even consider anything else if you want to tow.

There is a reverse cut 4.88 available for the 8.8 (front diff). There's a cross pin modification needed to make it work, but you just need a grinder as I recall.

See this...
