20 years and 200,000 miles later the original shocks were finally replaced on this XLT I bought this summer. These new shocks are a nice ride and all together cost me about $170 dollars. It is a nice upgrade and it has made the world of difference in the ride. The original shocks were mush as you can well gather.
Getting the stock shocks out was a lesson in patience. Thank god for angle grinders to cut the front shock bolts and a recipricating saw with a long flexible blade for the top rear shock studs. It is a pain in the butt and you guys warned me but I got through it. It was worth the effort.

The first time I did mine I wrenched the bolt off the rear shocks. Next time I did an F150 I took it to a shop and watched them rip saw the bolt off thinking the whole time I have a rip saw at home and could have done that. You could have bought the cheapest shocks you could get and the ride would have been a million times better then the stock ones. 10 years past due at least.

yeah, the thought wasn't lost on me regarding anything being better than the shocks that were on there. Was looking for a stiffer ride and I got it with these.
I guess people never realize how bad shocks get because over time they just get used to the ride.
