Default Fuel Question

My buddy got me buyin just Shell gasoline for my 99 because its supposedly better for your truck and what not. He also said to fill it up with the V-Power (Shell's) premium just every few thousand miles and it was suppsed to help clean out the engine. I dont want to do that and my truck end up in the shop. so does anybody know if thats okay/good for a truck or is it a no.

I think Shell has good gas, and I use it a lot of the time, but V-Power is just Shell's name for premium and your truck does not need premium unless you have special mods because it is a waste of money and can mess up your cats. Regular Shell gasoline has "Nitrogen" which is basically a detergent additive.

The premium fuel is doing no extra good. All grades of fuel have detergents in them. The truck from the factory is tuned to run on 87 octane. By running a premium fuel on timing for 87 octane the detonation will be off slightly.
