Default fuel pump/filter?

Lately the truck hasnt been starting well. Seems to crank for awhile the start. If it warm it starts fine(I think, goin to pay more attention to that) Once its started it runs great. Im thinking maybe fuel filter not the pump? Also my dash lights arent workin anymore?!

Changing the fuel filter is inexpensive (less than $10) and good maintenance. A clogged fuel filter makes the pump work a lot harder and causes early failure of the pump ($600 repair). However, not sure that is your problem and you are right that dirty sensors could be part of your issue. Bad connections at the grounds could be preventing your PCM from getting good signals from the sensors so I would check the grounds on your firewall and engine first to see if they are dirty, loose, or corroded. Clean and tighten as necessary. If the PCM does not get a signal from the Crank Sensor or cam sensor, it will not deliver spark and your engine will not start. The crank sensor is in a bad spot and collects a lot of oil and grease that might be effecting the signal. The bad news is that you have to unbolt the A/C compressor and move it to the side to get at it.

It could also be a lot of other things like a dirty MAF, air filter, plugs, EGR. You know your truck better than anyone and any maintenance this would be a good time make sure that all your scheduled maintenance is up to date. The PCV valve also can cause your truck to idle and run ruff and is worth changing as it only cost $3 and takes about 5 minutes to change.

well an update for today....its got way worse. Doesnt idle at all jumps from 200-400 had to drive it to work today...killed it a few times in traffic

worked on it, looked for vaccum leaks, couldnt find any. Replaced fuel pressure regulator and ran great, went to sonic and ate then started the truck and it went back to runnning bad. Im thinkin maybe something to do with the vaccum lines that run off the regulator? Im at a loss right now.
