fuel filter rattle
changed fuel filter this morning, when it came off it rattled. I cut it open and the filter was not attached inside! never had that happen in 50+ years of working on vehicles.

I got money saying its a Fram. Had a Fram do that to me. Mimicked a bad fuel pump.

That was first 4 letter word that came to mind reading this one earlier.
Before I knew any better, -use to think Fra m and Autolite were kin. Crazy right...

I actually posted a video of it a few days ago on another thread... For the record, the PO put that on there, NOT me. LOL.

LOL.... sounds like it.
I took it apart, and the glue had failed. That's right, they glue it to the can.

yea, only thing I could make out was made in china. Thought I changed it months ago but looked under truck at something else and it was rusty and crusty looking. End up I changed the wife's expedition's. I cut it open and it looked like it was glued at one time!

The previous owner of my truck (this was my Ranger in the video) had supposedly changed it a year before I did. But from how that looked, I've come to the conclusion that was BS. Since this incident, I've used Motorcraft only on everything. In fact, I've got a few of them on hand. If you've reverse flushed a fuel filter, you'll never buy a junk non-name filter again.

This was what came out of the fuel filter on my Escape.... I reverse flushed it. It was a Motorcraft. Clean fuel came out the other side. REALLY good filters.
