Front wheel alignment issue
2000 F-150 180 k miles. Runs great. I maintain it properly as I have for the last 18 years. Hope to get 250 k out of her plus.
My Son misjudged a curb in the city a month ago and slightly rubbed off of a curb during a u-turn. Slight alignment issue on the way home back to the Country. Everything mechanical need replacement periodically. I realize that and repair it gladly when necessary. New tie rod, forked part on the right side of the suspension, new brake pads and calipers both sides (old school here, but he said the disk didn't need to be re-turned ???). Was told the tie rods and joints were fine on the left side. And an alignment. Noticed the truck still pulled to the left on the way home. Brought it back the next day and he refunded my alignment fee. I watched 3 folks scratching their collective asses looking at the $30k computer alignment beast and never got those bright leds even close to anything green with those t big towers on each side of the truck on the rack or the monitor on wheels they kept rolling around for 2 hours. I've called 2 other BB rated mechanics with 100 miles and they can't guarantee an alignment as they have to pay their mechanic for the time spent on it. Understandable. After 400+ miles, the front tires show no signs or abnormal wear and both are the same temperature after 20 miles of driving. My question is..........is it possible the wheels are aligned, but the steering wheel is not in sync with the hydraulic power steering system that is causing this abnormality?
