Default Front end noise

When I go over a speed bump or most any other bump, I get a knocking noise on the front end.

Jacked it up, and if I but a bar under the tire, I can see the drivers side upper ball joint move around some in the control arm.

That the best way to test components like this? Never removed suspension parts before, but there is always a first. Think that could cause my noise, and any other suggestions on what to check?

The prybar works well for ball joints. The ball joint could make the noise. There are some other things you could check. Have someone move the steering wheel back and forth while your under the truck, look for loose tire rod ends is. Check the upper and lower strut mounts for looseness and fluid on the tubes. Check the stablizer bar for worn bushings. When replacing front end parts, the genreal rule is do both sides. Good lock

your thinking of 04 and newer trucks. These don't have locking hubs they have a shift fork on the front axle.
