Is there any reason a 2001 front bumper won't work on a 1997?

 

they are different but I'm pretty sure it's been done

 

With a little will power, cutting torch, welder, grinder and duct tape anything is possible.

 

Look at the center of your 97 upper grille assembly, then look at the 2001. You will see that the center is shaped lower on your 97. The 01 is straight across the bottom, where your's dips down. So, if you put a 01 bumper, put on the 01 header panel also for the correct look.
