Default Front axle bolt question

I have a 99 F-150 4x4 5.4L gentlemen.

I have a tick in my front wheels when its spinning or if i hit a bump. i looked at it, and there is a steel cover over the nut with a carter-pin that has movement in it, and if you bounce it around it makes a similar noise.

Is it dangerous of any sort to remove them? What should i do.

if you think it's the cotter in bouncing or the nut cover (castle nut cover) take it off and put some silicone (the kind that cures not the kind that sprays) around it to shut it up! easy as that...

That or replace the cotter pin with a new one and make sure you tighten it well. Do not remove it! Risk too much!
