Default Frame rust and solutions...

Has anyone here seen a pronounced frame rusting, or is it just the nice NY climate of 5 months of snow/salt?? I am pretty diligent about cleaning my 03 STX's undies, but I see quite a bit of rust underneath, (frame, axle, etc)... I was going to use POR-15, but have since found KBS coatings, and will be attempting that job in the next few weeks. Let me know if you all found/did something similar or different, OK?

I feel your pain Skeet6!

I've seen vehicles from in your area and its amazing how bad it can really be. I painted a Limo that was bought in Main and the under side of this car was horrible. under the black Vinyl top it had been wet and was really rusty. I sprayed POR15 over the top and sides, its the best product I have ever used. It takes a while to dry but when it does its great. I had some friends in PA that bought a 1979 high boy F250. The frame just in front of the leaf spring hanger had rusted completely threw. it was repaired when they got it but alway had a weird noise when they would drive it. after I looked at it it was obvious why the truck sat high on one side and it was actually scary to think a small piece a plate steel and a few bolts was holding the frame together. the repair was not done correctly.

If you have access to a pressure washer get under there and clean everything off. they dry completely and then spend a day using the POR15. be careful not to get it on your skin. it will not come off!

There was a guy that came into the paint shop that painted the under side of his Jeep with a small touch up gun. he didn't wear a resporator or anything over his face and came into the paint shop asking what will take the overspray off.. long story short he had a black tattoo until his skin wore it off. pretty sad.
