Alex - I saw your FB post about the shifter and can't find it now. Just out of curiosity, what all went into that swap? Probably not something I'd do, as I love the column shift, but iirc you said you used the stock shifter cable?

What year did the shifter come out of.? And wouldn't the console that the shifter came out of fit the 150?

To fordtrucktexan. I do like the column **** to. Has never really bothered me. Just thought about doing something a little different, and though after I put a supercharger on the 5.4 32v motor I'm building I though it would be hella fun to have more control with the console shifter.

So I got the shifter from a 2003 navigator. And I thought about using the original console for it. But its grey, not tan like my interior. And it's a full console that builds itself to the dash. Windows buttons, heated and cooled seats, ect are all controlled on that console. So it would have been alot of extra stuff I dont have on my 01 f150 lariat. And if it was an 02 navigator, I am unsure if they were console shifters. But 02 navigator shares the same interior set up as the f150. 03 navigator is when the changed the body's. When the expeditions stopped looking like f150s

Yea I used the same shift cable that was already on my truck. Disconnected from the column. Ran it a different direction. And hooked right up to the console shifter

Sorry got off subject. The longest part of this process. Was took me 3 days roughly to draw up and piece together the box to hold the shifter. Plus a few extras for myself. Like the cubby in the front for phone, change, whatever. And, ran wires to the od control from the colum to the console. Wired together so the button on the console works. Once most of the box was built. It was finding the location for shifter to be comfortable to my liking. It just went together really well. No major issues that made this project a headache by any means.

Final blueprint after a full day of drawing.

Starting to piece together, find shifter spot.

Extra slide out cupholder

Coming together

OD button from column shifter.

Purple!!

Almost done!

Looking good 😎

I guess my question is "Why?" Other than the novelty, it seems like an incredible waste of time, effort, and money.

I'll give you the same answer I gave others who have asked...
Why not?? And it cost me.. $14. For the carpet and spray glue. Had the ply wood laying around. I got the navi for free. So everything off the navi was free. And time. **** when my kids are with their mom for the summer. All I got is time.

nice work on the conversion. I will do the same conversion.

2 questions...
How many sets of wires did you have to run to the new shifter?
Does the new shifter have a brake trans shift solenoid?

Why? you are obviously not a car guy....... this type of customizing has been the heart of hot rodding since Hank invented the model T. I personally love it. Why stick a Hemi in a 55 Chevy gasser, why throw that perfectly working 4.2 V6 out of an F150 and swap in a 5.4? why put a supercharger on my 4.6?.......... WHY NOT!!!!.
