Flareside headlights

Default Flareside headlights

Ive seen both of these lights. Are they different years? Why are they different?

Ford used the center backup light style until 2.12.00. After that date, they went to the upper mounted back up light, which is the same as the 01 up Screw's used.

The reason they changed is simple if you ask me. The 99-00 lights with the reverse in the center used 3 bulbs, the 01+ only used 2 bulbs.

So for every truck Ford saved 2 bulbs, 2 bulb sockets and a foot or so of wire. How many million trucks did they make from 01-04?

Adds up to big $$$
