I was looking at some aftermarket headlight assemblies for my '99 flareside F-150, and I noticed that a lot of them say something to the effect of not being compatible with flareside models.

I'm curious, is there actually a difference in the headlights between the styleside and the flareside? If so, what is the difference? Is there an easy way to tell by looking at a photo?

 

All 97-03 F150 headlights are the same/compatible. The taillights are different and some of these sellers just copy/paste their listings.

That’s 99% true but in the interest of accuracy those built before 6/96 have different headlights, park/turn signal and header panels.
My truck was built 7/23/96 and had the early lights until I changed them.
