Default Fixed power lock!

After dealing with a non-operative passenger side door-lock since I bought my truck I decided I was going to fix it. I went to the junkyard and picked up two lock-actuators out of a '97 and '98 for $5.40, never any newer trucks there. When I picked them up I didn't know that the pre '99 are different from 99-, and didn't realize that until I tried putting it in.

Well, I had made my mind up that I was going to fix it, so I tried pulling out the lock actuator in my truck, breaking it even more than it was on the way out. I pulled it apart to see if I could fix it, and gave up. then I decided to mount the older style one instead. I had to drill one hole in the door and unwind some of the electrical tape on the door wiring harness, and after some careful placement, I got it working just fine!

I took some pics to show what I did.

Good job. Sometimes a little rigging (and $5.40 worth of parts) can sure brighten ones day. Its the little broken parts that are the most annoying.

Thanks, yeah it definitely has me excited. It always felt like I was in my '78 having to reach across or unlock the door with the key.

Ha Ha I've been driving my 88 all winter and still trying to unlock the doors with the key fob on the key ring for my 04.
