Default A first for me

Not f150
But why I prefer doing my own work......

I worked in middle east first 7 mo of yr
Daughter ac clutch went out...i ordered her new compressor, she had an aquaintance that worked as a tech at a dealership put it in for free in spare time. Since i was 7000 mi away....i couldnt do it.

6 mo later, she calls me, car quit running, lots of dash lights on.
Told her look under hood.
She does. Ac compressor is dangling from hoses. Serpentine belt is off engine.

All compressor bolts are broken off. In engine block. In hard to get to location. Overtorqued and failed.

Took to local shop to fix. Compressor had to come out for access, had to access from beneath on lift .

4 days and $650 later....bolts are out and car back together. Two were really hard to extract, snapping again.

It only has 3 bolts, arranged like triangle. Two in front near pulley, upper and lower, one toward rear bottom.

Easy to see if front upper front bolt was gone, it would vibrate with only two on bottom edge until hardened the bottom two, then they would break. Top front hole was dirtiest, this appears to be what happened.

Or if rear bolt gone, same would happen to front two without rear stabilized.

Only way two bolts would have a chance is if they were top front combined with rear.

So it likely only took 1 weakened bolt to cause it. When finally got the top front out, the tip had been cross threaded, threads were flat. It was probably forced to point if failure to seat it. Or maybe it never was seated, which would have caused failure too. But it was a beeyatch to get out.
