Default Is this fender liner correct?

This '98 has had the passenger front fender replaced, and I've found the plastic liner more or less just hanging in there by screws at the front and the rear on the outside edge. The inside edge is being held up by a wire to the battery tray.

The liner has three plastic pins you can see in the photo, but they don't line up with anything I see, including the holes in the upper control arm.

Any ideas of what's going on?

Thanks.

Is that edge just hanging in mid-air, not attached to anything?

Thanks.

It's missing the piece that fills that half circle and closes that entire opening. The bottom of the piece missing has fingers that rest close to the shock mount. Helps keep the engine compartment clean. It's most likley also missing the piece protecting the back of the headlights as well.

Other than that, the ONLY metal fasteners are around the fender perimeter and under at the rocker panel. There's 2 plastic push pins that fasten the front of the liner to inner fender..2 or 3 on the pass, 2 on the drivers depending on the bumper set up or model year.

No other fastening points though. If 4WD, the diff breather tube fastens to the engine compartment side of the liner

Mine is attached. You are in fact missing a piece I ran out and checked mine after class and have a separate piece that covers the gap completely

Thank you both. That helps.

Any chance you could take a pic of how it attaches to the truck? Think I can probably make something that will work.

Yes, you can make one. You already have the holes and 3 push pins. Pick up some more push pins at Autozone. They have them hanging in one of the isles, all different types including Ford pins. Take one of yours in and match it up, -then piece in some rubber. You can find rolls of that on e bay cheap. The 3M stuff is pretty good.
