well i dont think i have an lsd rear end.. i think its an open diff. its 9.75 rear with 3.31 gears.. would it say lsd on the diff tag? cuz on the lift i spun the wheels and they went opposites of each other... and as far as my abs light it never comes on even when the abs kicks in... i think it goes on the initial start up..

second problem.. i have a clunk/ snap noise from the rear end it sounds like.. the u joints are 2 weeks old and i pulled the rotors off the rear to see how my parking brakes were and they looked fine. so i reassembled it. i had my boss check the gear backlash and he said its not bad.. now this problem only occurs at a stop in reverse or drive.. and its intermittent! it is a junk yard rear end in my truck due to a car accident.. my first rear end they put in my truck had a cracked carrier and whined the whole time now this one i swear its coming from the rear.. i had my truck on the lift at work and went front to back on it and found nothing wrong. i even de adjusted my torsion keys to see if it helped...im at a loss with this truck.. i mean im 600 miles away from 100k!!!!! wtf. if this is gunna b more of a problem owning this truck them in getting rid of it. im tired of tinkering with it every weekend... i miss my old 98 tacoma 5 spd with 171k on it i was never really doing anything to that that rinsing mudd off it... and for a fact my 150 is a tar baby soo its not 4 wheeling related

thanks inadvance!!!

Ryan.
Use OEM hubs and you should be ok. The rear end,did they get you an axle with the same tag number that came out of yours originally,or did get one that would work? Also, check to make sure the rest of the rear end is set up properly, not just the backlash.Make sure the axle play is within specs, and if it is a LS...make sure that break away torque falls with in spec as well.

Now the U-joints are new? Did you use OEM?
Also,coils did you use OEM?

The Echlin coils offered by Napa are ok,but they tend to fail sooner than the Motorcraft ones.

Price difference is $92.58 for the OEM DG508's, and Echlin's #ECH IC369 go for $76.31....I am sure a little bargaining with your local dealer and you could have gotten them to price match.

Now on the U-joints,unless you got a Dana/Spicer u-joint in the aftermarket, that could create some noise, but what you are describing you might try a Scocthbrite pad on a angle die grinder and buff out the inside of the Rotor where the parking brake shoes rest and clean out the rust, and then take some sand paper to the shoes and re-surface them. Properly adjust up the parking shoes and see if some of the noise goes away.

Clunk noise in rear end brakes PROBLEM SOLVED FOR MY KING RANCH!!!!!!!!
In past six months, I had put new rotors and CERAMIC PADS on rear end. When i would put brakes on at low speed, would hear a glunk-kind of a grind noise from right rear. What solved my problem FINALLY was TAKE OFF CERAMIC PADS and buy set of brake pads from ford, cost me I think $72.00 the recommended pads. Solved my problem, no more noise .Other issues that i did find, emergency brake pads were too tight, and had some glaze on new rotors even thought i cleaned them with brake cleaner. Clean new rotors really good.
2001 , 130,000 still ford strong,Hope this helps.

Hows the alignment on the truck? I know my dad owns an auto parts store and when several hubs come back they have to prove they have had an alignment done recently because the wheel being out puts pressure on it where its not needed and causes the hubs to go bad sooner
