Default Fan Speed control problem

I have a question about the fan speed controls for my 1997 F150. Only the 3&4 speeds work, and I need to find out if I should replace the holu control unit or are there some kind of seperate vacume switches for each speed? Does anyone have an answer?
Thank you in advance,
dan442

The resistor pack for your blower motor needs replaced. not sure exactly where it is on these trucks but it will be in the output duct of the blower fan. Maybe someone that has replaced one before will be of more help.

On my 97 F150 4.6 it is next to the glove box under the dash. You will see it with wires running to it, that's what controls the speed. It's called blower motor resistor. Dealer or auto parts store should be around 24.00 or close. About 15 minutes to replace

If that doesn't work, like mine, you should be able to pick up just a fan speed switch. Don't know 100% I robbed one out of my parts truck, just clips into the back of the control panel. Hopefully put it in this weekend, I only have 1,2,4 been that way 3 years enough is enough lol

Default Fan speed

Hey guys, thanks so much for all the help. I stopped by the parts store and the price was around 25.00. Now all I have to do is wait for my knee replacement to heal up before I can get to it. Thanks again, what a great site.
