Can anyone identify this image? It is located near the bottom of the engine block on the passengers side of the engine. I have looked through the Ford manuals until my head spins and it does not seem to be readily identified anywhere I have looked.

I hope I attached the image file correctly. I am a bit new at this.

Looks like a knock sensor the go just into the block

I would say knock sensor, the wires should be grey/red, yellow/red.

Thanks for all the responses. Much appreciated. I've been on the run all day and I'm having some trouble with the Android app. It shows all of your replies but its not easy for me to reply. Anyway, its a1997 4.2. I just removed this engine from my truck and I was stripping all of the exterior parts and trying to decide whether I should replace it on the remanufactered engine I will be putting back to replace the one that failed.
