Default F150 gauge package.

hey all,

I am the proud owner of a 2003 F150 XL extended cab 4.6. I recently bought a 27 ft 5000 lb travel trailer. Towing is fine but I can't see what my engine is revving at. No tach..... I was wondering if I could change the gauge package. I was thinking of installing an XLT package. Is this possible without too much trouble?

Thanx for any comments........

Thanx for the reply. That is an option. If I have to go that way, I will. But I would like to see the tach needle next to the speedometer needle..

Call me picky, or even ****.....

But the plug in thing may be my way in the end. After ll, I only want it while towing.

Thanx Again....

it's my understanding that it's easy to physically change the cluster but you must have the dealer reprogram the mileage and PATS otherwise you won't be able to start your truck. It's a pretty big expense so you may want to consider just buying a tach and getting someone to install it for you.

Thanx for the input. Maybe I will go with tfarms advice and buy the aftermaket scangauge. I am in Newfoundland, Canada. Princess Auto has a unit on sale now for $99. Looks very similar to Scangauge.

Thanx for the advice.

BTW.... what is PATS? I am by no means a mechanic.....

It stands for passive anti-theft system.
