Default Expy a4wd switchable?

I know its not in the right place but you guys are better than any other forum I'm on so looking for some insight. Just got a 00 Expedition EB that is a4wd so that if it detects rear wheel spin, the front tires engage. Now some people are doing a brown wire mod that interrupts the signal from the transfer case to the front end so the clutches don't engage. I think there has to be an easier way. Could I not just take whatever sensor detects the wheel slip and sends the signal with one that is actually a switchable 2wd to 4wd? Anyone ever attempted this or have any ideas? Thanks!

The brown wire mod sounds like the simplest. Pretty much just a switch install by the way it sounds.

Well it probably is and most likely what I'll end up doing but just wanted to try a different route and keep it stock looking or just use stock switches

Just find you a pretty stock looking switch, aren't there switch mounting locations on the overhead consoles on the expo's

They Expys do not have a unlocking front diff. They are locked all the time. Wheel slip is detected by the rear wheel speed sensor and engages the magnetic clutch in the transfer case to lock it in.

I was just trying to figure out a way to bypass that sensor with something stock so I wouldn't have to do any wiring lol. Since some came with the 2wd, a4wd, 4hi, and 4lo option thought I could switch all those parts around and mine be the same.
