Default Exhaust question

I currently have flowmaster with duals out the back. I was very ignorant when I had them put on cause I have since then found out I hate chrome and so I'm thinking of changing it up. Here's my two thoughts: either paint the tips black (or plasti dip) or cut them off and put turn downs where the pipe makes a bend in the picture below. My dad told me that he ran turn downs like that at one time and the heat from the exhaust made his chrome bumper crack and rust eventually. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Exhaust musta been running extra hot in your dad's truck. I'd use black high temperature paint on the tips.. Would look sweet

That's what I thought too about the black paint. Especially since I'm gonna start blacking everything out. And I have seen alot of trucks around this part that have the chrome bumper popped and rusted. Just didn't know whether I was over thinking it or not.

I wouldn't use plasti dip on exhaust... I painted my chrome tip black with high temp paint from autozone and it's holding up good
