Default engine ticking

I have a 2002 f150 with the 4.2L with 88k on the motor. I recently switched to mobile 1 synthetic 10w30. Now after 2000 miles with the new oil I am noticing a ticking noise in the morning that lasts for about 1 min. Is this something that I should be concerned about? What is causing this? Should I do an engine flush and go with a 10w40?

Go with NOTHING but a motorcraft oil filter (no fram's) and 5w20 in the cold months.

prob valve lifter tick. the 4.6 and 5.4 are notorious for it don't know about the 4.2. both my mustang 4.6 and my f150 5.4 have the same tick. rebuilt mustang's engine so problem solved there but the truck is just so damn annoying

WRONG- Motorcraft filter has the correct silicone anti-drainback valve where the Fram uses junk cardboard. Do a little comparison shopping and you'll see the Motorcraft is right around the same price as those junky Frams, why risk it over pennies???

Enlighten yourself, more than you ever wanted to know about oil and filters- www.bobistheoilguy.com

Oh, and dump the Mobil1 oil, its ok but its not what it used to be, there are MUCH better oils out there for your truck (i.e. Pennzoils new Ultra)
