Default Engine swap 4.2L to 4.6L

What do I need to make this happen? I have 240,000 on my 4.2L and I found a freshly rebuilt 4.6L for cheap at a very reputable place. I want to acquire everything I need before I do this first cuz it's gettin high in miles. Truck still runs good, but I really don't want to buy a new truck when the motor finally goes, cuz everything on it is in new/good condition. My truck has been EXTREMELY very well taken care of. I just would like to have everything I need in my garage, and ready to go when I need to make the swap.

You need to sell that truck and purchase one with a Modular platform.

You have an Essex platform, - it's too different from the Modular.

What do u mean? I'm not sure what ur talking about with the platform? My truck is a 2003, and it's in amazing shape, and well taken care of. I'm not getting rid of it.

Then you need to replace that engine with one like it. A 4.2L. You can't just throw any engine in that truck and expect it all to work.

If you originally had a modular motor, then yea, -you could use a 4.6, 5.4 or V10 in that truck. That's not the case.

Either one works.

One guy did buy a truck with a dead 4.6 I believe. Put a V10 in it, and boy was it annoying to get it working right...

Good Luck!, - Keep us updated please!!

I have to see this lol.

The V10 2 valve is easy for the 150. Not his tho, - the Essex is different everywhere. Sensors wiring programing. You can't re-program something w/different wiring and systems.

I'm telling yuh, don't waste your time and money. You need to search.- in order to get your head out of your......
