engine removal question?
Hello,
I just replaced the tranny and oil pan in my truck and I found that the Hardest thing to do it loosening the bolts without breaking them. I broke 7 studs in the head alone. If I had to do it again I would say take your time and use plenty of PB blaster or heat. Also having a good set of breaker bars and a jack handle to increase the torque may help. Also unbolt the 4 bolts at the flexplate/flywheel for the torque converter. I went by the book and left the torque converter on the flywheel when I pull my tranny and it was a pain in the *** getting it out.
Hope this Helps.

All the books I read, Ford Shop Manual, instructs you to remove the torque converter bolts. Maybe some of the others don't. Just so you know there are 3 bolts on the starter and the fan is a normal thread pattern. Righty tighty, lefty loosey.
I use a 13mm on a swivel joint and a 3 foot extension for the transmission bolts. And yes you need to remove the intake manifold to get the engine out.
