Default Engine Question! NEED HELP!

I have an engine out of a 1998 ford f150. it is a vin code 6. 4.6l v8. now i got a guy that wants to but it for his 2005 F150...besides the coils being different...is there anything else thats different? i know the newer 4.6l have COP. and this engine has 2 coil packs.

Id love to know today if yall can help me out. Thanks!

Engines are both 2 valve sohc without variable timing but the 05 has pi heads and the 98 does not unless its been changed, other issue may be differences in the wiring harnesses and connectors. Would probably need to match em up to be sure. Seen where the connectors are the same from one year to another but the wire pinouts within the connector are different! Makes for some fun drivabilty issues and diagnostics!

It's hard to say because the newer 4.6l 2vs have electronic throttle bodies and EGR valves which may not work on the 98 and possibly other sensors that may not have places to go in the 98 heads and block. You'd have to have them side by side and really go over every sensor and connector like Hoffman said. I wouldn't be too confident in it working, and your buddy would definitely have some power loss if you did get that non-PI engine to run right.

2005 4.6 should be a 3v.

5.4s are 3vs in 05, 4.6s aren't 3vs till 09 I don't think.
