Default Engine missing suddenly

03 F150 4.6 Triton, just went over 100k miles. Driving to work, suddenly engine feels like it is missing. Had carb and vaccum work done 2000 miles ago. Not much of a mechanic, would like suggested causes before taking to Ford...$$$$.

Any codes? My first guess would be a coil, second a plug. If someone told you they worked on the carb, they lied, it doesn't have one.

Not much of a mech myself, had Ford do work on 'carb', fuel supply, vacuum....guess I worded it improperly.
As far as missing engine, guess I'll take to parts store for codes, didn't want to drive it 20 miles but that's the price for living in sticks...
Thanks for the reply JCR 56, only response thus far.
