I need to know were i can look up the engine id tag number so i can get the proper engine specs for my truck.

That tag number doesn't look familiar, it's not a casting number, I'm really not sure what it is, Where did you find it? Are you trying to figure out if it's a 4.6l or 5.4l or what? The 5.4 should have a plastic intake manifold while the 4.6 has an aluminum one. Also I'm sure if the guy replaced the motor he put whatever came in it back in. Do you have a reason to think he didn't?

It was a number on a Tag by the intake manifold. Yes, I'm trying to figure out whether its a 5.4 vs a 4.6 so i can put the correct parts on it. the when i looked up the VIN number, the truck came up a 4.6L but he keeps telling me he replaced it with a 5.4L. I just want to check behind him because I just don't trust anybodies word.

that's all.

I think all 5.4s are Windsor so they have 13 DS/14 PS valve cover bolts. Look at the vin of your truck, the 6th digit being W means it had a Romeo motor which has 11 valve cover bolts on each side. So check that out, plus a 5.4l is a good bit wider than a 4.6l so if it looks tight in there it's probably a 5.4. Another thing that would help would be to pull up next to a truck that you know which motor is in it and compare the two side by side.

Well, thanks to your knowledge and investigative tactics I was able to identify the problem. He was out right lying about the whole thing. See, it came with a 4.6l and that's what was in there.

I doubt he's dumb enough to try to pass off a 4.6L as a 5.4L. Maybe he is, I dunno. Post a picture of the engine.

If he's willing to lie about that, wonder what else on the truck is a lie. Did you buy the truck with maintenance papers and a receipt for the engine?
