Default Engine identification help.

I just bought a 99 4.6 4x4 auto with a bad engine. I need help identifying what motor I need to be looking for.
It doesn't have the pi heads I don't think because it doesn't have the c.o.p.s . What I think I'm looking for is a 97-99 4.6 non pi motor. Any help will make the search much easier! Lol I have never owned the 4.6. So most my knowledge is 5.4 oriented.

What are you looking for new, rebuild yours, or used motor?

97-99 will drop right in

You will need to determine if you have a Romeo or winsor 4.6

If the engine is stock just check the vin #
6-winsor
W-Romeo

I'm looking at wrecking yards. And what I have found out is I have the Romeo.
How hard is it to go to a pi romeo?
The motor I get will have the engine harness and be complete right down to the throttle body.
What else would I need to do the swap?

You wont need the engine harness. You use your existing PCM and engine Harness. But if you choose to switch to COP like the PI engine uses you will need the complete engine harness along with the PCM. Then you will either need a programmer to turn the PATS system off or take it to the dealer to have it reprogrammed to be able to start the truck.

I would use the existing engine harness with a PI engine. There are only a few parts that have to be tranferred.
