engine compartment smells like syrup
so the engine compartment has been smelling like syrup for some time now. i have no leaks i check a couple times but i can smell it. i was never able to actually pin the place were its comming from. but i know forsure its not a leak, what i think it is, is coolant pooled some were and since coolant boiling point is some were over 200 degrees it wont burn away. because when i replaced the thermostat i spilled alot of coolant and it never smelled like syrup before i changed the thermostat. so any place you think were coolant can pool up
the smell is burning coolant! the coolant is probably puddled under the intake, or soaked into the "padding" that is under the lower intake manifold. try flushing it with water. otherwise try to pressure test the system and see if there could be a leak from the water pump that is burning off before it hits the ground. good luck
I'd say you have some coolant on top of the intakes. My advice is live with it. Cleaning the engine with copius amounts of water to wash away the coolant will cause other issues. Sooner or later, it will evaporate.
If the truck is in good running order, aka no bare wires or cracked coils it will be fine, obviously you dont need to soak everything(electrical components) and dont use a pressure washer, just let the hose run under the intake, there is nothing there that water can damage
. I have done this on many different vehicles after repair! How do you think the dealers/repair shops get the coolant out after a repair, if they didnt there would be a lot of vehicles driving around smelling like breakfast!
