Nope but you would here. Been averaging -4 degrees F as daytime highs and -15 degrees F as nighttime lows for the last week and it doesn't look like things are going to change too much next week. I really appreciate my heated garage this time of year.

Hey All-

I have a 2013 F150 XLT 5.0 V8 equipped with a block heater. I purchased the truck used back in May of this year. I have plugged it in a few times already this winter and to me the block doesn't seem to be operating. I expected the engine to be a lot warmer and start blowing warm air after driving less than a 1/4 mile (I get these expectations from a friend of mine who has a block heater on his Ram 2500). Am I expecting too much or is their an issue with my block heater? This is my first time owning a vehicle with a block heater so I'm a newb to it.

Any tips on what to check?

Plug it in somewhere quiet. You should hear it coming on. It will sound like a kettle just before boil then the sound will die down a little. If you don't hear that it is not working. If that is the case check the cord is good and plugged in fully to the block heater. With the truck being so new the issue is most likely with the cord.
