Will it be as simple as popping them off or do I need to heat them first?

the emblems are held on by double sided tape.they are a pain in the *** to take off. ford uses guide holes for their emblems so if you want to take them off for good you will have 2-3 holes

I want to put emblems from a 2008 on my 98. Do I just grip it and rip it or is there a technique?

Heard a few guys on here that use fishing line to remove emblems.

I think they make a spreader for body parts. My buddy tried taking mine off with a plastic puddy knife looking thing. They do use post to put the emblems on strait so I gave up and left them on. If or when I get the truck painted I would have the taken off and just leave the ford ones on. If your going to put something else on top of the spot I wouldn't see why you couldn't but just to take them off your going to have holes.

Use a hair dryer and like they said saw the tape with fishing line from each side and to pull while heating it and they come right off, theoretically. I've never done it but that's the best method I've found, seemed to have good results.
