Hello y'all, got a quick question i think i know the answer too but want some input. My 97 4X4 with the **** to engage 4wd will not engage. Its winter in Ohio go figure...... I turn the **** to 4 high and here a click and the dash light that says 4x4 turns on well i got stuck in my yard yesterday had to have my brother tow me out with his ram (sibling rivalry) looks like he will be smug for a while, his reaction was how come my 20 year old beater works better than your 17 year old not so beater? Well i want to get rid of his smugness and drive safe this winter. Any ideas? I'm thinking its my actuator or may a vacuum leak? the 4x4 worked this summer when i went mudding and then worked a couple times later but once i needed it it told me nope not gonna work.

 

Yea, try lubing up the actuator first. The pin freezes up from non -use. Best way to do that is with a vac tool or Mitey vac and WD. Get that pin free and the vac tool will work back and forth for you. Connect right at the actuator in place of the Blue or Pink vac lines. You know, right at the actuator ports.
