Electrical issues
1999 f150. Got in the truck after not running it for a week or two. Brand new battery completely dead. Jumped off and ran fine to my buddies house (about 15 mile drive). Got in the truck to leave his house, and it would just crank over but wouldn’t start. Noticed that even with the ignition off, and key out, some of my gauges were still on, and my battery, brake, theft light, and odometer stay on (maybe what killed the battery in the first place) Also noticed that with the key on, I can have the headlight switch off, but one of them still flickers. Changed the ignition switch and still doing it. Any ideas? GEM/fuse box maybe?
Seems like there must be more to this story. Was there any recent electrical work/modifications done to this vehicle ? Is this the first time this problem occurred ?
Check for codes. If you suspect damage to the GEM/fuse panel you should pull it out and inspect for water damage. At least eliminate it as a variable.
Others have reported a problem like yours is associated with the "park/shifter switch in the steering column.
