electric window problem

Default electric window problem

1998 ford f150 4.6

My windows up fine but down very very and sometimes stop, i sprayed wd40 on the side widnow slots and that helped a bit for a little while, do the motors need to be replaced....

Yeah, when the motors wear out they heat up expanding the winding causing them to be slow and eventually quiting.

hmm my 97 passenger as always been slow goin down and i noticed this winter my drivers is getin the same way. its always worse in the cold

As long as the window moves up and down you are good. When the glass refuses to move, replace the motor. Slow movement is your motor's way of giving you advance notice of impending replacement. Every day it continues to move is gravy. Replacement is an hour per door.

Try spraying silicone lubricant on all the rubber where the glass touches. It will dry and streak free and also helps to prolng the life of the rubber. It makes for a nice slick surface for the glass to ride on. I see this all the time where I work and it usually hepls alot.
