Your egr is probably fine check the metal hose that goes on the exhaust manifold and the two rubber hoses going into you dpfe also you vacuum selinoid for your egr looks like it has a cap on it

Having the same proflem with my '01 4.6. I've replaced the EGR and cleaned the lines and still getting the same error code. I've purchased a new sensor but i haven't figured out where the sensor is to replace it.

I had that happen on a ford ranger I had and it ended up being the sensor that monitors the egr(cant remember what its called).

The sensor is forward of the valve. Its the black plastic thing the rubber hoses from the egr pipe connect to. Mine was throwing that code for a while and I replaced the valve and cleaned everything I could with no luck. Turned out my hoses were wore out and had holes.

I'm beginning to think the parts guy gave me the wrong part. I was also thinking it was the thing with the medicine cap looking thing on top in front of the egr valve. The part they gave me looks nothing like that. Looks like i'm headed back to the parts store tomorrow.
