i have a 2001 4.6 F150 4x4 with approx 250,000 miles

the truck runs great ... i threw a check eng lite and the code was for the egr. i put a new egr on it and the next day while driving it threw it the code..i told the code reader to erase the code what else can i do or could it be something else making it throw a egr code

It could be the EGR regulator valve, vacuum line problem, or plugged lines. Apply vacuum to the EGR valve and see if the engine runs rough or dies. If it doesn't, there's ablockage in the exhaust ports. If it does, check for vacuum to the regulator. If the vacuum is okay, it probably needs the reulator.

Perhaps maybe post the code you're getting? Somewhat hard to help diagnose your vehicle with the given information.

If the vacuum to the egr is good and it runs rough when you apply vacuum then replace the DPFE sensor.

my guess is dpfe and the two high heat hoses to it. factory ones are metal and get corroded .

Besides the DPFE and hoses, make sure the exhaust comes out of the ports where the hoses connect to the EGR pipe.
