Default Edge Evolution 97-03 question??

ok so my brother has a 98 5.4 liter and bought the older edge evolution for it about 2 years ago or so. it somehow fried his computer 2 different times and from what i understand from this forum, it is the chord. well it has been off of his truck for a few months now and he told me i could have it for my 2001 4.6 liter. obviously i don't want to fry my computer as he did, but hey this is a free tuner so i'd like to figure something out. so is there any way i could just get the chord replaced with something that won't fry my computer every time? thanks

You can call Edge and talk to them, they should beable to send you a new cord. You might have to buy it, but it'd be worth it!

That's the reason I sent my Evolution back and went with a CS. I couldn't get a straight answer whether the replacement cord was the same one that they are having problems, or whether the problem was ever addressed. (I don't think it was).

The only time a bad cord would fry the computer would be when changing the tune. You could buy a new cord, set it to the tune you want, and never mess with it. You can even unplug it after setting the tune.
No changing tunes=no fried computer
Getting it for free, and the cost of a cord, this isn't a bad option.

While I don't have any complaints about the tuner itself, I had the cord problem as well. For mine, it has to not be all the way on in order for it to keep the tuner running. There's this like half-on half-off sweet spot for the connectors.

I called Edge 3 times about this. Just gave up and keep it at the sweet spot.

ok thanks for the advice. i guess i'll give edge a call and just see what they have to say. if i don't get any straight up answers i will most likely just get a new chord, set the tune and take it off all together like skizriz mentioned. thanks for the help!
