Default Dreaded Battery Drain

My '97 F149 (really F150, just doesn't always feel like it! LOL) has the dreaded drain so I put it on the old multi meter and have now narrowed it down to the fuse #14, interior light/Accessory Delay Relay. With the fuse in, MM reading .72 amps being pulled. With fuse out MM reading .06 amps pulled. Next pulled Accessory Relay and with fuse in still pulling .72 Amps. Next completely removed interior light and no change, still pulling .72 amps, so I'm sure it's not the lamp. Dome light BTW comes on and goes off like it supposed to and I have no "DOOR AJAR" warning light coming on unless the door really is ajar.

When I pulled battery saver relay the MM shows it's back to .06 amps and of course I have no dome light. Since my truck is more or less a Frankenstein truck (build out of junk yard parts) I happen to have MANY battery saver relays collected during all my trips to the junk yard. I've tried at least 10 BS relays and still same problem. I'm guessing it has to be something on that circuit but don't have a wiring diagram. Any help or hints as to what I might try next would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

Can you see the link above? Search for what you need.

So something in the #14 fused circuit is draining 0.72A and it is not the relay. A wire touching chassis? It sounds like a problem that can only be diagnosed by checking every wiring in the circuit. Good luck.

The stereo and amp are connected directly to the battery? Try removing the connection and remove the fuse one by one with the amp meter connected.

It seems they're a number of lamps on that circuit; engine compartment, glove compartment. dome light, right & left door courtesy lights and the cargo lamp which I believe is on the outside top rear of the cab, right above the truck bed. What is confusing is that all these lights sit behind the batter saver relay. Shouldn't the relay turn everything on that circuit off after ten minutes?

The amp is wired directly to the battery with a fuse in between and the HU is on the stereo harness plug which is fuse #8 I believe. Must admit I'm a little confused by your suggestion as neither of these are effected by fuse #14?

I checked the wiring diagram for interior power distribution. #14 fuse appears 3 times. It feeds ABS, Ignition switch, and Accessory Delay Relay. Since you pulled ADR and current stayed at 0.72A, you can eliminate ADR and all the circuits downstream of ADR.

YOu now have ABS and Ignition Switch. What comes after IS? Battery 12V > #14 fuse > IS > (what comes here?)

I am a little confused myself. I cannot quite get the full picture of IS. But Fuse 21 (15A) comes between IS and Transmission Range Sensor. You may want to pull out #21 fuse and re-check current.

Battery Saver Relay and GEM

GEM has no off switch. Battery relay is in open circuit during sleep mode and grounded when awake.
